Mushi Mushi

A 12x18 inch multi media piece, the characters were done in charcoal and graphite on drawing paper while their clothes were done separately in watercolour and pencil crayon on watercolour paper and pasted onto the drawing paper.

The geisha is dancing for a "Kitsune", a Japanese fox demon known for causing mischief by shape shifting into people. It is said that they often appear in the mountains. The geisha's kimono design hints at the possibility that she is also a kitsune. The title was chosen as the Japanese often greet each other on the phone by saying "mushi mushi", a tongue twister for the kitsune.
